What Madrid does have is a real, established network of **cannabis social clubs**: private, non-profit associations. Most of them are concentrated in and around Madrid, Villaviciosa de OdΓ³n and Boadilla del Monte. They range from small, quiet members' lounges to larger, better-known associations, and each sets its own character and house rules. ## How the clubs work A cannabis social club is not a shop β€” it is an association you join as a member. You must be an adult of 18 or over with valid photo ID; you register in advance (traditionally through an existing member's introduction, or today through an introduction service), and consumption happens only inside the club's own private premises.
